Move over, designer and scented candles, it’s time for gel candles. It’s a good hobby that offers fun and a business opportunity.

For making of gel candles mineral oil is the main material. It is 90 percent mineral oil and 10 percent polymer, which is the reason for the candle to have a gel like consistency when done. Mineral oils help gel candles burn for a long time than other wax candles that you see on the store shelves.

Candle making is simple, simpler than you would think it to be. You can visit many blogs on candles. With a personal touch to it, they are the best gifts you can gift your loved ones and friends. Candles make a good gift to receive or to give, and that element of added personal touch makes them priceless gifts.

To make gel candles at home, you need some gel wax, scents or fragrance oil of your choice, candle dyes, wick base, wick, non-flammable glass container or a jar and embeds. Having thus procured al the needed items, proceed with the making of candles in these simple steps.

To start with melt the wax in a bowl. Gel wax would generally take more time to melt than other wax. As the wax melts, add the chosen color and scent or fragrance oil immediately. It’s time now to transfer this colored hot wax to a container to which a wick has already been fixed with the help of a wick stand. Unless you want to have visible bubbles in the container, you should ensure that wax remains hot at the time of pouring into the container. On the other hand, if you like to have visible bubbles, let the wax cool for a while before being poured to the container. Just let the wax cool and settle down in the container and you get a ready to lit candle.
